I am a life–long resident of Dutchess County. I was born in
Poughkeepsie, raised in Beacon, and graduated from Beacon High
School. Upon graduating from the State University of New York
at Oswego with a Bachelors of Arts degree, I moved from Beacon
to Poughkeepsie to attend Marist College as a full-time graduate
student in the Public Administration program (MPA).
While working at Dutchess Community College as a full-time Admissions Counselor, I graduated from Marist College with an MPA, and obtained my second Masters in Management & Urban Policy from The New School in New York City. Shortly after completing my second masters’ degree, I ran for public office against Mr. Columbus Stanley. I won the 5th Ward Common Council seat as an Independent candidate. I worked hard on a number of local issues that not only impacted the 5TH Ward but the city at-large. I was a member of the Common Council when the city saw its darkest days and most sorrowful moments. Gun violence plagued the city and reached epic proportions. The city saw 50 shootings and 15 murders in one year. My sole focus was on public safety, community policing, civic engagement, and economic development.
